Layover

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 19, 2026

The short version

Layover does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Your location is used on-device to detect your nearest airport and is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch current weather conditions. It is never sent to any other server or stored after use.

Location data

Layover requests access to your location for two purposes: detecting your nearest airport and fetching current weather conditions. This is how we handle it:

  • Your location is used on-device to find the nearest airport
  • Your location (coordinates only) is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to retrieve current weather conditions for the airport
  • Location data is not stored on disk and is not shared with any party other than Apple Weather
  • Location access is optional — if you deny permission, the app works normally and you can browse all airports manually (weather features will not be available)
  • No background location tracking occurs — we only request your location when the app is open

Data collection

Layover collects no personal information whatsoever. This includes:

  • No names, email addresses, or account information
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No cookies or advertising identifiers
  • No data shared with third parties

How the app works

All content in Layover — airport guides, activity descriptions, photos, and tips — is bundled within the app itself. The only network request the app makes is to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch current weather conditions for the airport you are viewing. When you tap "Open in Maps" or "Visit Website", your device opens those links using its built-in apps — Layover does not intercept or track these actions.

Third-party services

Layover does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app uses two Apple system frameworks: CoreLocation (to detect your nearest airport) and WeatherKit (to fetch current weather conditions from Apple Weather). Weather data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are used.

Children's privacy

Layover does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
